Ugly monster

What did victor Frankenstein think his monster would turn out like?
Before he brought his monster to life, did he not see how ugly it was?
Victor Frankenstein went grave digging to get body parts for his monster. When he was stitching them together how did he not notice that it was ugly. When his monster was finally assembled didn't he notice that it wasn't a normal being. Then he went ahead and brought it to life and was taken aback at how ugly and hidiouse the monster was. That makes no sense.
